Believers in a Post-Christian Culture
You have probably heard over the past few years that church attendance is shrinking rapidly. For some, this causes alarm believing that a shrinking church attendents may indicate that christianity in the west is on the decline. This may or may not be true. I don't really know for sure, but for the next several months, you will be seeing stories on YWAM Organic that deal with this issue. In this months Booktalk segment, we interview Jon Hirst, co-author of the book, Through the River which discusses how we as believers may be able to engage with our culture in ways that allow us to discuss Christ in our culture and society without displaying the confrontational attitudes that lately perhaps have contributed, I believe, to the decline in church attendents. In the following months, Jon Hirst will be interviewing individual believers who have found ways to communicate their faith to their spheres of influence in quiet but significant ways. And then later, we will feature a story about the Post Christendom culture that we find ourselves living in. How did we get here, what does it mean, and how can we minister the love of Jesus in relevant ways? It's an interesting topic so please stay with us.
